The Donna Court project is another one of my favourites because it is a childhood home turned into a modern family sanctuary. Adam and Vanessa purchased this house from Vanessa’s parents, who had built the house themselves and still had the original plans. I always get giddy when homeowners have the OG building plans – not too sure why, it’s just cool!
***Disclaimer: No walls were removed in the making of this project***
With this ranch-style home, we simply renovated each room to bring it into 2022! The foyer was updated with a wicked chevron pattern tile, paired with a geometric light fixture and we closed off the front sitting room with a modern barn door. Playroom by day, adult chill zone by night!
The kitchen/dining/living area was already a fairly open concept. We installed vinyl plank flooring throughout the entire main floor, updated the kitchen layout, which was provided by Mastro Kitchen Studio, and paired the warm maple cabinets with a soft white countertop and backsplash – it’s the simplicity for me.
Both bathrooms received a facelift with my infamous hexagon tiles. In the main bathroom, we chose an oversized black matte hex for the floor and a 12×24 grey tile with white veining for the tub surround, paired with a cute AF shower and Mastro’s gorgeous custom vanity.
For the ensuite, we kept it lighter, with white hexagons for the floor and the same grey marble tile. In both bathrooms we went bold with black fixtures. We can’t forget about the shower wand (it was the only thing that Adam really asked for).
My trusted friend, Michael, from Made-to-Shade, was on-site to consult about the window coverings. We landed on simple linen roller shades all over, plus room-darkening for the bedrooms. They. Are. Stunning.
Finally, we updated the lighting throughout the entire floor and dealt with a beautiful chandelier that was just much too big for the dining room, and we were out of there!
Thanks to my amazing clients for trusting me with this project. Another fun one for the books!
